My Journey with EMFs and Holistic Health Optimization

At each step in our journey, we learn a little bit more about what real health is. What is “real health” to you? I’ve pondered this for the past 8 years as a major wellness nerd and biohacking hippy, and this is what I have discovered:

  • Real health isn’t just a lack of dis-ease; it’s living harmoniously with nature. Real health is creating purpose (because we aren’t simply handed a ‘purpose’ by the Universe) and putting others first before our own, without an expectation to receive. Real health is balancing out the 8 dimensions of wellness to the best of our ability: intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual, occupational, financial, environmental, and social.


My name is Christian Van Camp and I am a men’s holistic lifestyle coach, natural guinea pig, and psychonaut on a mission to energize and empower people to live more sustainable, healthy, and adventurous lives. Merging ancestral wisdom with modern science is my motto. The ‘matrix’ is a real thing that has the potential to override our sacred human connection to nature. I would have never imagined that something that we couldn’t hear, taste, smell, or see could affect our physical, mental, and emotional health so drastically. Most of us are used to these electronic conveniences of modern life – but few of us are aware of the possible health risks presented by the gadgets that make our world work.

Electromagnetic fields or EMFs encompass many things: electrical frequencies, magnetic frequencies, wireless (microwave) radiation, dirty electricity, geopathic stress, and blue light. Collectively known as electrosmog, all of these forms of EMFs can create lasting health problems.

The Invisible Becomes Visible…

One day in high school I was studying on my couch with my laptop on my lap (that’s where that tech is designed to be… right?). Shortly after leaving it there, I felt this weird pressure/pain feeling in my testicles. I took the laptop off my lap and soon after the pain subsided.

Every once and a while I would place my laptop there again on my lap and the painful irritation continued to arise. I began researching all about why this occurred. I read books and listened to hours and hours of holistic health optimization podcasts. A recurring discussion in these blogs, books, videos, and podcasts would come up regarding the dangers of EMFs contributing to men’s testicular and fertility issues, but I discovered it affects the whole body, not just reproductive health…

After diving deep into all things radiation, I craved a solution that wouldn’t be just throwing your phone out the window screaming “Sayonara!

As the use of technology increases, more people are starting to react to EMFs and wireless radiation than ever before, but the overall goal should be to limit exposure to the invisible toxic effects of electrosmog, not to throw it out entirely.

Top 5 Holistic Steps to Decrease EMF-Exposure

  1. Keep Your Cell Phone on Airplane Mode as Much as Possible!

I assume you’re like me and you don’t read the fine print of Apple or Android’s safety guidelines, however, I recently discovered on the world-wide web (using my EMF-loaded iPhone) something astonishing. The manufacturers warn us that these devices should not be kept anywhere against our bodies. You know what I mean, answering calls up in our ears, laptop work on your lap, phone in pocket, yada yada yada. If your phone is actively connected to Wi-Fi, cell service, or Bluetooth, it is indeed zapping your brain cells and putting your temple at risk for cancer development, neurological issues, and so much more. Your phone is actively transmitting radiation if it’s not powered off or in airplane mode. I recommend pounding that airplane button whenever you don’t need it: in the car, at the grocery store, working, and anywhere you go! Use speakerphone when possible, avoid wireless Bluetooth headphones, and take care of yourself by powering off that dopamine device here and there!

  1. Turn Off Devices While You Sleep!

As we all know, sleep is how we human beings bounce back for another bright and sunny amazing day. Without adequate recovery, we deplete our longevity and become weak and frail. Radiofrequency can mess you up big time if you count sheep by your phone for 7-9 hours every single night. Turn off your phone while you sleep, or at least turn on airplane mode! Everyone in the house should follow these rules and power off the Wi-Fi routers, modems, wireless printers, and PlayStations every night. Personally, I like to put my phone on airplane mode and put it far away from where I rest my head to catch my zzzzs, not emfffffzzz.

  1. Eat a Nutritious and Anti-Inflammatory Diet Rich in Antioxidants
  • I personally make this the numero uno priority because if I maintain a diet rich in key micronutrients and antioxidants, I will maintain good health all around and will be able to negate the damaging effects from ANY external infiltrator, such as electromagnetic frequencies.

I prioritize 3 main things for my anti-inflammatory, gut-nourishing nutrition:

  • Healthy Fats: Omega-3s from wild-caught SMASH (sardines, mackerel, anchovies, salmon, herring) and Carlson brand fish oil
  • Hydration: Clean filtered water throughout the day with mineral-rich salt, such as Redmond Real Salt or Celtic Sea Salt.
  • Antioxidant-Food Staples: Every day I enjoy antioxidant-rich foods like blueberries, tart cherry, 100% cacao powder, dates, avocado, and olive oil to combat those EMF free radicals


  1. Grounding Barefoot on Mother Earth Daily!
  • I found that grounding barefoot and making any contact with the earth’s negative ions helps tremendously to mitigate EMFs (and research continues to prove this!). Be a barefoot primal and walk for a minimum of 20-30 minutes daily on soil, grass, rocks, or the beach.

Technology is not all bad, and it is here to stay. I still use a computer (it’s how I wrote up this blog!), my phone, Wi-Fi, and other handy electronics. The key is BALANCE!
