Reviewer: Andrew Michrowski, Planetary Association for Clean Energy (PACE). Assessment date: October 31, 2018. Document: PACE expert peer review.
Andrew Michrowski’s PACE assessment endorses the 2013 research led by S. Datova on Aires Defender and heart rate variability. The review focuses on the reported changes in autonomic regulation and software-derived regulatory indices, and relates them to the study’s question of physiological adaptation.
Research reviewed
The underlying report measured 13 volunteers before and after 20 minutes with Aires Defender. Several indices moved in directions Datova and Michrowski interpreted as improved regulation. The study used a before-and-after design; it did not include a randomized sham, time/rest control or defined wireless-exposure challenge.
PACE’s contribution
Michrowski explains the rationale for HRV measurement and interprets the reported results in the context of adaptive physiology. His assessment is an external expert peer review of the existing report. The 2018 assessment date and the 2013 research date identify two documents in the same evidence chain.
