Inside the 2019 Aires EEG Pilot Protocol

The 2019 pilot compared brain activity through the same phone-use sequence with and without an Aires device. Its methods make it possible to follow the comparison from participant selection to the final recovery recording. Open the original methods on page 5.

The protocol belongs to a broader effort to connect electromagnetic engineering with biological response. The 2014 phone EEG study had already reported that phone-associated increases in delta- and alpha-rhythm power were absent with Aires. This pilot examined the response through exposure and recovery, while the Vilnius field measurements established a physical interaction between the structure and the field. Following those connections helps explain why Aires measures the body’s response as a central part of its research program.

From screening to the comparison group

Thirteen 21-year-old male volunteers were assessed. Six entered the phone comparison. The report describes five participants with stable background EEG patterns and one with a different baseline pattern. The recordings were conducted between April 5 and April 18, 2019.

The recording sequence

  1. Record a two-minute background EEG and an eyes-opening and closing test.
  2. Record the next eyes-closed background condition described in the protocol.
  3. Place the Prestigio phone at the right frontotemporal region in muted conversation mode for five minutes.
  4. Record for two minutes after switching the phone off.
  5. Compare the phone-alone condition with the phone-plus-Aires condition using the same sequence.

The study records EEG with 16 monopolar leads and integrated ECG, using a 0–70 Hz band and 250 Hz sampling. The authors describe the study as double-blind. Inspect the equipment and study scenarios.

Why the recovery period matters

The report describes slow-wave predominance continuing after the phone-alone exposure in the five participants with stable background patterns. With the Aires device, brain activity returned immediately toward its starting pattern after switch-off. The authors also report higher alpha frequency and changes in the structure of correlations. Read the observed changes.

These measurements test the biological response to a change in the phone environment. Aires’ research program connects that response with the physics of its resonator technology.
