Can cell phone radiation cause breast cancer?According to an increasing number of studies, electromagnetic or EMF radiation, which is emitted by cell phones and other devices, may contribute to the development of breast cancer. Many environmental causes are currently being investigated by scientists, and electromagnetic radiation is one of the most prominent. This is no surprise, as we constantly bombarded by increasing sources of radiation brought on by our electricity, cell phones, WiFi, cell towers, and other electronic devices. The Epidemic that is Breast Cancer The current statistics on breast cancer are concerning. Right now, the American Cancer Society indicates that one in eight women in the US may develop breast cancer during their lifetime. Furthermore, the death rate for women is greater than any other type of cancer, with the exception of skin cancer. Surprisingly, a number of men also develop breast cancer. Though there has been a slight decrease of female breast cancer patients in the last decade, the statistics remain very high and extremely frightening. Why is EMF Radiation a Likely Cause of Breast Cancer? Well, first you need to understand melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone secreted by the pineal gland, and is known to play a critical role in cancer protection. A primary function of melatonin is to regulate your circadian rhythms, which control your sleep cycle. Melatonin is also a free radical that facilitates DNA synthesis and cell division. However, its most crucial function is how it deals with breast cancer. There is some evidence that a low level of melatonin in the body encourages the development of certain breast cancer cells. Research has shown that when melatonin is added to these cancer cells, their growth is reduced. Studies have shown that women with breast cancer have lower amounts of melatonin in their bodies than healthy women. The pineal gland doesn’t produce sufficient melatonin in people who do not sleep well at night. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has stated that night shift work may be a “human carcinogen”, for this very reason. Groups such as nurses and night shift workers are known to have up to a 60% higher incidence of breast cancer. Lack of melatonin as a contributor to breast cancer has been known for a while. Now, scientists are focused on the question of what depletes the levels of melatonin. There are a number of things that affect the production of this hormone, including sleep, light, drugs, light, alcohol, caffeine, and even estrogen. The role of EMF radiation has become of increasing interest, because it has become evident that EMF exposure reduces the production of melatonin. Evidence has indicated that breast cancer cells that have reduced when treated with melatonin actually start growing again when exposed to EMFs. When cells are exposed to EMFs, they react the same as they would as any disease or virus threatening them: their outer wall hardens. This causes all of the toxins to remain in the cell, including free radicals, and it also prevents nutrients from entering the cell. If the EMFs are continuous, the cells will eventually die and make the tissue susceptible to the takeover by cancer cells. A growing amount of evidence supports that cell phones carried close to a woman’s breasts have contributed to an increase in incidence of breast cancer. Cell phone radiation may be the most talked about concern, but even lower levels of EMFs like the level in electricity and appliances has also shown to reduce the production of melatonin. Evidence of the link between EMFs and breast cancer was presented at the first World Conference on Breast Cancer in Canada in 1997. A hundred epidemiological studies produced data demonstrating a link between EMF exposure and different types of cancers, including breast cancer. The studies show how EMFs reduce the tumor-suppressing abilities of melatonin and the sources of EMFs for the studies ranged from electric blankets, cell phone towers, and electrical trades people. So, How do You Protect Yourself from EMFs? Are There Methods of Breast Cancer Radiation Protection? With the evidence of a correlation between EMF radiation and cancers, it’s obvious that anybody suffering from the disease already should avoid excessive EMF exposure. Others, especially people in jobs that prevent them from sleeping at night should take precautions, reducing EMF exposure, and taking melatonin as a supplement. Reducing EMF exposure can be tricky, with all the sources of EMFs around us even throwing out the cellphone may not be enough to reduce the risk of depleted melatonin levels and the risk of cancers associated with this. New technologies, like the devices from Aires Technologies, are the future of breast cancer radiation protection. Our devices have the ability to neutralize EMFs, reducing the effects on melatonin and helping to protect cells from damage.
